DR. MICHAEL SCOLES

Dr. Scoles attended Oregon State University as an undergraduate and obtained his dental degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. In dental school, he was elected the national vice-president of the American Student Dental Association, a 14,000 member organization. Finishing his clinical requirements a year early, he spent his fourth year working for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health treating medically compromised patients.

After dental school, he served in the US Navy for three years. While in the Navy, Dr. Scoles received advanced training in Oral Surgery, Endodontics and Prosthodontics at the Naval Submarine Base, Bangor in Silverdale, Washington. This additional training enables Dr. Scoles to perform a wider array of procedures in the practice, procedures that would normally have to be referred to a specialist. The state requires 21 hours of continuing education for dentists each year. Last year alone, he took courses totaling over 200 hours. He is certified in Invisalign, Powerprox, and the Tip Edge technique for orthodontics. With the Galileo’s 3D x-ray machine, he places implants in the safest and most accurate way possible.

Dr. Scoles is the only dentist in the Seattle area who is a mentor at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry for CEREC cad/cam dental procedures. The Scottsdale Center is the recognized leader for training dentists in CEREC dentistry. He is flattered to be asked to be part of this organization and enjoys teaching other dentists about this exciting technology.

After fulfilling his military obligation, he returned to the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Scoles and his wife Laylia have been together for ten years. His interests outside of his
practice include kiteboarding, volleyball and remote control helicopters.

“I have been fortunate in that I found a career I truly love, after 14 years of dentistry, I still get excited to come to work."

Dr. Michael J. Scoles

DR. MONA BUTANI

Dr. Butani was raised in Canada and attended undergraduate and dental school at the University of Saskatchewan. While in dental school, she pursued elective training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas as well as a trauma elective at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore. After graduation, she worked for a few years in private practice in the Vancouver, BC and Toronto areas. This experience allowed her to develop a broad base in cosmetic and family dentistry.

Subsequently, Dr. Butani relocated to Honolulu, Hawaii, where her husband Raj, then a physician in the U.S. Army, was stationed. During this time, she served as a dentist at a local community health dental clinic. In addition, she volunteered at the Aloha Medical Mission, providing free dental care to the underserved people on the island. This was an invaluable experience, providing her the opportunity to gain skills in areas of dentistry and procedures typically limited to specialists. Her work in Hawaii was very stimulating and rewarding, and served as a great source of stability during her husband's overseas deployment tours to South Korea and Iraq.

Dr. Butani recently moved to the Pacific Northwest following the completion of her husband's military service obligation. She is excited about her relocation to the Seattle area and looks forward to providing high-quality dental care to her patients. Avidly interested in keeping current, she continues to further her education and training by pursuing the most respected and cutting-edge courses offered in the field, allowing her to provide the best dental care possible to her patients.

When not practicing dentistry, she enjoys running, cooking, reading and spending quality time with her husband and two young sons, both of whom keep her more than busy!
