Dental Bridges in Issaquah & Renton

Restoring Smiles with Exceptional Cosmetic Family Dentistry

Toothless grins are really cute on babies, but far less so on adults. In fact, many people associate missing teeth with poor hygiene and a general lack of care, which can have a dramatic impact on first impressions. Whether you are missing teeth as a result of dental trauma or improper hygiene, the professional dentists at Michael J Scoles DMD can help turn your smile around with high-quality dental bridges. We have been improving smiles for nearly 20 years, and we always use the very latest in dental technology to ensure the best results. Our family dentistry services are second to none, so you can count on us to help you create the smile you deserve.

Impact of Missing Teeth on your Oral Health

There is so much more to tooth loss than simply affecting the appearance of your smile. Tooth loss can lead to immediate problems with eating, digestion, speech, and other basic activities, and time will only make matters worse. Eventually, the remaining teeth will start shifting out of alignment in an attempt to fill in the gaps, resulting in crooked teeth, serious bite problems, and a weakening of the overall structure of your mouth. If left unchecked, you may experience decay, periodontal disease, or additional tooth loss.

Filling in the Gaps with Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a device made up of false teeth with two crowns on either side that bridges the gap left by one or more missing teeth. The two crowns fit over anchoring teeth, often called abutment teeth, to secure the dental bridge in place. Dental implants are sometimes used instead of crowns to support the bridge. The false teeth, or pontics, can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials. At Michael J Scoles DMD, our cosmetic dentistry team will conduct a thorough assessment of your teeth and gums to determine which type of dental bridge is right for you.

Dental Bridges Can:

  • Restore your smile
  • Allow you to eat more comfortably
  • Improve your speech
  • Help maintain the shape of your face
  • Strengthen your bite
  • Prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of alignment

Process for Obtaining a Dental Bridge

During your initial visit with Michael J Scoles DMD, the dental team will prepare the abutment teeth by removing a portion of the enamel to allow room for placement of the crowns. Impressions of your teeth will serve as the model for the bridge, which will be created in a dental lab. The dentist will install a temporary bridge to protect the exposed teeth and gums until the permanent bridge is finished. A second visit is required to place the bridge. Adjustments will be made at this time to ensure a proper fit. For a more permanent fit, the dentist may cement the dental bridge into place.
